Thank you for Coaching for PVSC!

This page is dedicated to providing information for coaches regarding coaching requirements, licenses, and referee policies.

PVSC is part of the Snake River League and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association. We have coaches in our rec league, and in our competitive league. There are coach and assistant coach opportunities available. All coaches are required to set up an account in Gotsport, complete a background check, the Heads Up Concussion Course and the Safesport online training.  If you are interested in Coaching for PVSC, please email us office@pvscunited.com

CDC Heads Up Concussion Course & Background Check

The background check and Heads Up training are mandatory requirements in order to coach. They can be found in your coaches GotSport account, under the "Requirements" tab.

The background check is free and only requires answering a few short questions.

The Head Up training is a 20 minute online Course to help coaches recognize concussions and know what to do if/when a player gets a concussion.

(Note: this course will not save your progress, so plan on doing it whole thing in one sitting)

Background check and Head's Up Concussion are good for 2 years.

SafeSport Training

SafeSport Training

Safe Sport is an online training that is mandatory for all coaches/adults who work with PVSC players. It is federally authorized under the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 (which became Public Law No: 115-126 on February 14, 2018) to provide training, resources and policies to safeguard athletes from bullying, harassment, hazing, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct.

Safe Sport is a 90 minute training the first time through. It is good for one year. There is a 20 minute refresher course (required every year) for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years, then you will have to take the full 90 minute course again. This training is also found under the "Requirements" tab in your GotSport coaches account.

Coaches and Referees

Coaches and refrees work together to provide access to soccer games for players in our area. IYSA has several polices regarding a coaches interaction with the referees. Competitive coaches and recreational coaches who utlize referees are responsible for understanding these policies.

Coaching License Pathway

U.S. Soccer License Levels

PVSC is committed to supporting coaches in obtaining coaching licenses. All coaching licenses begin with a free introductory online course and then progress from Grassroots to professional licenses. Grassroots and other coaching classes are offered throughout the year in different locations throughout Idaho.

The PVSC office will notify all competitive coaches when licensing classes are being offered in the Pocatello area. The cost of the classes can be covered by PVSC with board approval with the understanding that once a coach receives a license they will commit to coaching for PVSC for two years.

Visit the U.S. Soccer Learning Center for more infomation regarding the coaching license pathway.
