PVSC is part of the Snake River Leauge and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association. We have coaching in our rec league, and in our competitive league we have coaching and assistant coaching opportunites. All coaches are required to set up an account in GotSport, compete a background check, and the Heads Up and Safesport online trainings.
The fall rec season is September 9th - October 21st.
Team pictures will be September 16th.
Below is the fall game schedule. Coaches have until Thursday 8/31 to make changes to the schedule before we release the schedule to parents. **Remember U09/10 teams can find their games under U10, & U11/12 teams can find their games under U12. Be sure you are selecting the right gender for your team for the correct schedule.
You will have to create a coach account in GotSport. Please use your correct full legal name.
For tips on how to create and use your coach account watch the video below-
Using the GotSport coach account
The background check and Heads Up training are mandatory requirements in order to coach. They can be found in your coaches GotSport account, under the "Requirements" tab.
The background check is free and only requires answering a few short questions.
The Head Up training is a short online concussion training.
Background checks and coach accounts and Head's Up Concussion must be updated every 2 years.
Safe Sport is an online training that is mandatory for all coaches/adults who work with PVSC players. It is federally authorized under the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 (which became Public Law No: 115-126 on February 14, 2018) to provide training, resources and policies to safeguard athletes from bullying, harassment, hazing, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct.
Safe Sport is a 1.5 hour training that requires a shorter refresher course every year. This training is also found under the "Requirements" tab in your GotSport coaches account.
PVSC is committed to supporting coaches in obtaining coaching licenses. All coaching licenses begin with a free introductory online course and then progress from Grassroots to professional licenses. Grassroots and other coaching classes are offered throughout the year in different locations throughout Idaho.
The PVSC office will notify all competitive coaches when licensing classes are being offered in the Pocatello area. The cost of the classes can be covered by PVSC with board approval with the understanding that once a coach receives a license they will commit to coaching for PVSC for two years.
Visit the U.S. Soccer Learning Center for more infomation regarding the coaching license pathway.
Coaches and refrees work together to provide access to soccer games for players in our area. IYSA has several polices regarding a coaches interaction with the referees. Competitive coaches and recreational coaches who utlize referees are responsible for understanding these policies.
The build-out line is to allow keepers & defenders more time to control the ball before being pressured by opposing players; to play the ball without pressure and build play from the back. The build-out line rule applies during goal kicks and goalkeeper possession. At goal kicks opposing players must move out of the build-out area. At all goalkeeper possessions, opposing players must move behind the build-out line.
